Benjamin C. Rajak is a resident of South Boston. He is currently pursuing his photography interests in the world of fashion and beauty. His interest in photography began on a vacation in 2004 when a friend introduced him to a Canon 20D. When he returned to Boston, he got his first camera and started doing landscape photography. He began looking for local photography clubs and organizations and eventually found the Boston Photography Center. Though not a club, the Boston Photography Center was able to help him grasp a better understanding of the basics. Ben has had the pleasure of taking a class with Don Gianatti from Lighting Essentials and he is an avid reader of David Hobby's 'Strobist' blog. Most of Ben's photography is self-taught.
Many people have influenced his work including:
- His girlfriend Hong, who has always supported Ben and encouraged him to continue photography.
- Maria Lalimarmo, for introducing Ben to his first Digital SLR.
- Banafsheh Ehtemam, founder of the Boston Photography Center.
- Fellow members of the Boston Photography Center as they shared their wealth of knowledge.
- Ron Ranere for his critique and guidance.
- David Hobby for sharing his knowledge via "Strobist".
- Don Gianatti from "Lighting Essentials".
- Olivia Chow, a fashion designer who offered Ben the opportunity to work with her.
- Iman Model group organized by Stanley DeSarmes, who invited Ben to shoot at their fashion show in Boston, Beast of Fashion 2008.
- Peter G. Vayanos and Elena Milonopoulos for their constant encouragement. And of course, Elena posing for Ben as his model! :)
- David Liu for helping Ben to put this website together.
- And finally Ben's good friend and mentor John Hubbard, Director of Photography from EPS Communications whose constant support and encouragement has continued to raise his interest in photography.
